CERES Data Products

CERES instrument provides radiometric measurements of the Earth's atmosphere from three broadband channels. The CERES instruments are improved models of the Earth Radiation Budget Experiment (ERBE) scanner instruments, which operated from 1984 through 1990 on NASA's Earth Radiation Budget Satellite (ERBS) and on NOAA's operational weather satellites NOAA-9 and NOAA-10.

The first CERES instrument was launched from Tanegashima, Japan, on November 27, 1997, as part of the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM). Two CERES instruments were launched into polar orbit on board the EOS flagship Terra on December 18, 1999, and other CERES instruments are scheduled for launch on board EOS Aqua in 2001.

Note that these data sets are affected by CERES Operations in Orbit.


CERES Sampler CD-ROM Available

A limited edition CERES sampler CD-ROM containing two of the CERES ERBE-like products is available free of charge while quantities last. The data contained on the CD-ROM are the CERES monthly ES-4 product for January through August 1998 and the daily and hourly ES-9 product for January, April and July 1998. The CD-ROM also contains view HDF software and various information files.

When ordering the CD-ROM, you must indicate that you have read the Data Quality Summaries for the ES-4 and the ES-9 products. Order the CD-ROM.
