AVHRR Land Pathfinder Mission
Land Pathfinder datasets
are generated by reprocessing Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer
(AVHRR) Global Area Coverage (GAC) data held by NOAA.
AVHRR Land Pathfinder scientific data products consist of global vegetation and radiance data.
These data are produced using GAC observations made by the five-channel AVHRR instruments on NOAA-7, -9. -11, and -14 satellites.
The processing input (AVHRR Level 1B GAC data) is also a Pathfinder product.
The resultant composited datasets will provide a time series of uniform, nearly cloud-free,
derived datasets providing highly repetitive, synoptic coverage of all global land areas at 8-km spatial resolution.
The Pathfinder AVHRR Land dataset is expected to be valuable for natural science studies involving
long-term evaluations of ecophysical land surface properties at large regional, continental, and global scales.
The data consists of
-
Composited NDVI data
-
Daily and 10-day data (HDF format)
-
Daily, 10-day, and monthly data (binary format)
-
10-day images (GIF format)
-
Time period 1981 to 2001
-
Ascending pass (daytime)
-
Goodes Interrupted Homolosine projection
-
8 km resolution (5005 pixels/360 degrees)
-
1 degree resolution
