Each subset is sample data for 1 month, January 1998. The AVHRR SST Pathfinder granule covers the Earth.
The data presents sea surface temperature at the "height" of an El Niño.
Sample Information
This granule contains the derived geophysical parameter SST, as a binned global grid, along with a grid of the number of observations per bin. The granule also contains 8-bit raster images (SST and observations/bin), and respective image palettes. No geographical subsetting was performed. The grid is 2048 rows by 4096 columns.

This release of the AVHRR Oceans Pathfinder Global Equal-angle Best SST V4.1 (NOAA, NASA) product is a validated product.
