Tools

Data files from the instruments on Terra and Aqua are distributed to the users as Hierarchical Data Format-Earth Observing System (HDF-EOS) files. Data files from other instruments are distributed in a variety of formats. This page presents some of the many tools that allow the user to view or process HDF-EOS distributed data.

In addition, there are Web tools by the EOS Data Gateway (EDG) and other data providers that allow the user to easily browse and order data. For information about Web pages that allow one to browse and order Earth-observing coincident data, go to the how to find and order page on the CD-ROM.

• Use Collage to digitally process a MODIS sample data file.

• Use DIAL to digitally process a MISR sample data file to produce a viewable image.
